Like all our swivels, it has the simplicity of no gears. The only moving parts are the hydraulic motor, stem, and packing cartridge. Using a hollow shaft hydraulic motor, the swivel stem is driven directly by a massive lubricated spline.
Available lifting devices include elevator type bail or Cobrahook™ link hooks, which allow wire line lubricator access to the gooseneck top connection for horizontal drilling work.
RPM Readout Coming Soon - No changes to swivel, no hanging cable. Intrinsically safe. Options include RPM on new control panel, loose RPM gage for your mounting, or just wire for attachment to your electronics.

Patented 10,000 psi Washpipe Seal Assembly - 10,000 psi at Max RPM - Field reports seal life up to 2000 hours before changing seals and design underway to multiply that. Auto-lubricated for low friction and long seal life - No greasing required. Optional at extra cost. Necessary for long reach laterals, otherwise standard 5000 psi washpipe assembly is fine.
Patented Power Tilt - Catwalk tilt angle is easily set at rigup. Tilt then repeats to same angle throughout job. When tilt is not in use, swivel is held in vertical position hydraulically, no rope or chain required. Aux tilt control valve on power unit assists safe loading/unloading.
Patented SafeLatch Torque Arms - These quick-connect torque arms will soon be standard, allowing quick and safe latching/unlatching the torque arm rollers from the wire ropes. No falling objects since no wrenches or parts removal required.

10,000 psi Washpipe Seal Assembly
Our patented seal assembly is rated at 10,000 psi at Max RPM with minimal torque drag. It is automatically pressure-lubricated and requires no greasing. This is a uniquely engineered design, very different from conventional concepts using metal rings and rubber V-rings. We have received happy field reports of up to 2000 hours before changing seals. Nonetheless, we continue engineering and we expect seal life to improve greatly.
Swivel Tilt
XK power swivels include our patented power tilt function. The driller easily sets the tilt angle stop at rigup to match the pipe angle in the V-door, then the swivel tilts to the same angle throughout the job when he clicks the handle forward. Clicking to the rear position floats the pipe to vertical during pick up. When tilt is not in use, the power swivel is hydraulically held vertical for easy stab with no need for a rope or chain. Our customers are very pleased with the safety benefits and time savings.

XK-150 Dimensions
XK-150 Power Units
XK-150 power units use a variable displacement piston-type hydraulic pump to allow any swivel speed desired. Caterpillar engines are standard, others optional.
Electric motor power is also available if you need to plug in.
Hydraulic-powered hose reel is standard with 100 foot hydraulic hoses, and reel will accept 200 feet if required. Axle rotates on standard high pressure Chiksan-type swivel joints, available economically anywhere in the world. For operator safety, our hose reel control valve is located well away from the reel. We proudly call the reel drive our ugly gear drive, so named because the slow moving open gears are flame cut, not machined, and require no lubrication.
Trailer Power Units
Our trailer power units are designed with the highest degree of roadworthiness. We use the widest tandem axles with oversize weight ratings. Electric brakes are fitted on both axles, and the standard breakaway system locks the brakes should the trailer separate from the truck. For best roadworthiness, all equipment is arranged on the trailer centerline. Rugged fender tanks are arranged on each side to maximize service access on the trailer deck. Gooseneck or bumper hitches are optional, and spare tire is included.
Skid Power Units
Rugged oilfield skids are designed for truck winching and are fully floored with diamond plate. Oil spill containment rail is fully welded all around. Heavy-duty dual tank design uses minimum floor space, and all equipment is arranged to allow easiest access for service. Heavy bumpers are standard on both ends. Offshore skids are built with overhead crane lifting frames, seal welding throughout, and special salt air paint systems.
Helicopter-transportable dual-skid units are available if required.
Air Remote Controls
Air remote controls are connected by a 50-foot control hose umbilical. Stainless control panel features liquid-filled torque gauge, single handle control for variable speed & direction, auto-throttle, and power tilt. Also included are engine kill (fuel shutoff), emergency engine kill (air shutoff), plus torque release control which allows controllable unwind of the drill string before picking up. Emergency engine kill is also located at the engine.
Torque Box
Stainless control box for setting maximum torque is mounted on each unit near the pump with the same torque gauge as the main panel.
If your preset max torque is reached, rotation will stop and torque will be held.
Torque setting instructions are etched on front panel of the box.
XK-150 TORQUE REACTION
Two telescoping torque arms are included with every unit, and several length ranges are available. Four oil-impregnated nylon sheaves roll up and down wire ropes stretched between crown and floor. Safety cables protect rig floor from falling objects. Optional parallel torque arms are arranged toward the back of the mast.
Also optionally, our patented top drive torque track can be fitted to the XK-150 power swivel with links and elevator.
