NEW XK-250 TOP DRIVE COMING OUT - will still be rated at 250 tons static load, but will have 35,000 ft-lbs max torque, and a higher 100 rpm tonnage rating.

The heart of our XK-250 Top Drive is patterned after our field-proven XK-250 power swivel – It uses no gears, instead it uses one high torque piston-type hydraulic motor splined directly to the stem. Our standard quick-change washpipe and packing are included, along with a recirculating oil system to cool the hydraulic motor and load bearings.  Top drive features include a dual load path to prevent tripping loads on the thrust bearing, and elevator kickout  to reach out and pickup drill pipe from the mousehole or V-door. A hydraulic backup wrench holds the drill pipe against make or break torque and may be operated remotely up in the derrick if required by downhole conditions. To prevent thread damage, an air suspension thread compensator allows the top drive weight to float. A hydraulic actuated IBOP provides wellbore safety and serves as a mudsaver to minimize mud loss on the rig floor. To react torque, a torque slide assembly is quick-connected to a rugged torque track hung between crown and floor.  No torque loads are seen by the derrick.

First time rigup includes permanent mounting of our universal torque track base plate to substructure, plus welding a padeye under crown for hanging the track.  Diesel power unit includes a Caterpillar 630 HP C-18 diesel engine, which directly drives dual variable displacement piston-type hydraulic pumps. Engine, pumps, tank, controls, and oil cooler are fully integrated into a well-lit weather-tight skid-mounted container.  Engine radiator is equipped with a blower-type fan so heat will be blown out of the house, and the oil cooler also discharges hot air outside. All top drive pipe handling functions are powered by a dedicated electric motor-driven hydraulic pump. Large capacity hydraulic reservoir is arranged to maximize floor space and service access, and an electric heater is built in. This heater and the cool oil flushing system allow circulating warm oil before startup in cold weather. A flow-thru diesel tank is included for connection to rig's central diesel tank and circulating pump. 

Optional electric-driven power unit includes two 300 HP electric motors, each driving one pump.
